My LifeStraw(Blog #2)

Towards the end of class on water, we were discussing how certain ways people are helping purify water.  Dr Redick mentioned a company that creates these water filters that campers can take with them on campouts if clean water isn't widely available, but that company also donates some of their profits to water cleaning tablets, which help people in third-world countries with unclean water. I connected with this by having something similar called the Lifestraw, which I've used in some unsatisfactory conditions, such as drinking out of a muddy lake or out of a mossy pond. This item does so much good, at such a low price to me, it made me realize that if it's too costly to make purification plants, these purifying items can be a step in the right direction for accessible drinking water. Thinking about all of this makes me wonder why this area of purification isn't being focused on more, and what impact I can have personally.
