Mia Soviero (02/16/26) The American Camino and Shaping Nature Through Walking
In the American Camino, our professor, Dr. Redick, presents walking as more than just movement, but also as a way to think about place, identity, and human connection to the land. The journey reflects physical and emotional exploration. What stood out to me was how walking slows everything down. In my everyday life, I do not really take time to notice my surroundings in detail, but Dr. Redick suggests that walking forces awareness. This made me realize how disconnected I can be from nature sometimes, even when I’m physically in it, and serves as a reminder to be more aware of my surroundings.
