Braden Gage (Outside Readings)

I read this article about deforestation, and it was honestly kind of surprising how it connects to human health and not just the environment. The article explained that when forests are cut down, it actually makes those areas hotter because trees help cool things down, and without them, temperatures rise pretty quickly. What stood out to me was that this isn't just a small effect, but millions of people are exposed to this extra heat, and researchers estimate that around 28,000 deaths per year are linked to deforestation-related warming. It's crazy to think that cutting down trees can directly impact people's lives like that, and not just animals or ecosystems. The article also talked about how deforestation affects things like rainfall and air quality, which just adds to the issue. I'm from northern Virginia and I can say that I've been seeing lots of deforestation just for them to add data centers, so I wonder how that will impact everyone living in the area.
